About Us

Hull and East Yorkshire Eye Hospital was founded in 2002 upon a plan to provide exemplary Ophthalmology Training.  We are achieving this goal by a combination of established techniques and innovative methods.

The Hull & East Yorkshire Eye Hospital is based in the campus of the Hull Royal Infirmary, part of the Hull and East Yorkshire Trust.

The Eye Hospital occupies a purpose built building at the Eastern end of the main Hospital site.  The design team involved members of staff throughout the project, and the result is that staff have a strong sense of “ownership”. Several design features enhance training. The Library houses a multimedia lecture facility, the PixEyes Retinal Laser Simulator and there is a “Wet Lab” for eye surgery training. All intra-ocular and some extra-ocular surgery can be recorded for training purposes.

There is a busy schedule of lectures, tutorials and Study Days. Most of the didactic training is recorded for internal use in the library.

We “join” the weekly Yorkshire Regional Postgraduate training sessions using the Video-conferencing facilities within the Library

The Hull and East Yorkshire Eye Hospital is approved by the Royal College of Ophthalmology for postgraduate training of Specialist Trainees. Foundation Years training (FY1 & 2) is also provided. We are registered CET providers for Optometrists.
