All consultants teach cataract surgery. We use one to one teaching enhanced with video “debriefing”. Novices learn basic microsurgical skills in a wet-lab using Royal College cataract eyes.

We screen all patients for corneal astigmatism using corneal mapping equipment. Refractive cataract surgery is offered whenever appropriate and the necessary techniques explained and demonstrated.

Cataract surgery taught here will allow Specialist Registrars to achieve Level 4 competency as defined by the Royal College of Ophthalmology.
