The Wet Lab has three surgery stations. All have height adjustable tables, operating stools and microscopes.
The two “wet” stations have Bausch & Lomb Millenium phaco machines. All three microscopes have X-Y control.
The “dry” station is for suture practice only.
Trainers can observe via microscope side arms or video screens.
Currently surgery practice makes use of Royal College approved rubber “phaco” eyes and other simulated material. Future developments will allow the use of animal eyes.
We organise formal training sessions for Yorkshire School Ophthalmic surgery trainees in year 1 (you must complete the Simulator training first), and informal training and practice is available to all other trainees.
Formal School training dates will be announced on the Deanery web site, usually taking place in September or October each year.
Trainees and Trainers from any other department may use the facilities by arrangement.
